Dan Mayleben

Chief Executive Officer

Since early 2020, Dan has been the Chief Executive Officer of 2ndWave Software. Over the past two years, 2ndWave has invested in two platform companies (Aztec Software and HealthTrio) and the platform companies have made three add-on acquisitions. Dan serves as the Executive Chairperson at Aztec Software and HealthTrio and he also serves on the boards of four other private equity backed software companies.

Prior to 2020, Dan was the Chief Financial Officer of HelpSystems which he joined in December 2014. Chris and Dan working together with the investors and the team successfully grew HelpSystems from $100 million to $260 million of revenue and successfully recapitalized it three times over a five year period. The growth from $100 million to $260 million was a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. Chris and Dan completed eleven add-on acquisitions at HelpSystems.

Before joining HelpSystems, he worked with Chris as the CFO at Axium Software, Amcom Software (now Spok), and HighJump Software over the past decade.

Prior to HighJump, Mayleben served as CFO of Adaytum. While at Adaytum, the company grew revenue from $27 million to $60 million over a three-year period. Dan led the sale of Adaytum to Cognos in January 2003. Before Adaytum, Dan served in various finance roles at Honeywell, including serving as the CFO of a $1.8 billion business unit undertaking several acquisitions, both large and small. Prior to Honeywell, Dan spent 10 years in various audit roles with Deloitte.

Dan graduated summa cum laude from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting.

Chris Heim

Executive Chairman

Chris Heim is the Executive Chairman of 2ndWave Software, a role he has held since early 2020. In this role, he works with Dan Mayleben to advise and invest in software companies. In addition to board membership on 2ndWave companies, Chris serves on 6 other private equity backed boards.

Beginning in 2014, Chris was Chief Executive Officer of HelpSystems and transitioned to Executive Chairman in 2019. Before joining HelpSystems, Chris served as a long-time HelpSystems board member.

Chris has a strong track record of success as CEO of companies including Axium Software, Amcom Software (now Spok), and HighJump Software, respectively.

Under Heim’s leadership, HighJump Software grew from $8 million in sales in 1997 to a run rate of $80 million in sales in 2006 and became the fastest growing company in their market space. In 2002, HighJump received the Tekne Award from the Minnesota High Technology Association as the Top Emerging Software Company.

In 2003, Heim was selected as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Chris Heim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science, and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He serves on the national board of NPH USA, a charity that supports disadvantaged youth in Latin America.
